As hard as I’ve tried (which actually isn’t that hard if I’m being honest) I just cannot get myself to become more of a “minimalist”. I love my collections way too much!

BUT I do NOT like having to stare at clutter all day! Which is why I’m sharing some creative ways to maximize the amount of storage in your home.

  1. Over the Door Storage

Take advantage of the space behind your closet doors! Bedroom closets, coat closets, pantries, bathroom doors- pretty much any door could be extra storage space.

2. Use a Dresser as a TV Stand

Dressers are not just for bedrooms. Using one under your TV is an easy way to gain more storage! We used to use one for our TV (see below) and we kept my son’s onesies, diapers, wipes, etc in it when he was an infant. It was so much easier on me to not have to go up and down the stairs all day to change him.

Make your space work for YOU! It’s fine to keep clothes in your TV stand if that makes your day run more efficiently! Even Carrie Bradshaw kept clothes in her oven! :)

3. Furniture that Folds Away

When you’re tight on space, being able to fold away a table that’s not in use is a game changer! You can even have a chalkboard or bulletin board on the other side so it still serves a purpose.

4. Multi-Purpose Furniture

When you’re looking for furniture, try to see if you can find pieces that serve multiple functions. For example: storage benches, storage ottomans, coffee tables that you can raise, etc.

5. Use Wall Sconces

How to maximize storage in a small space. Use wall sconces to save floor and table space.

Save precious floor and/or table space by using wall sconces! There are SO many cute plug in options out there!

6. Baskets!!!

Maximize storage in small space by using baskets. Under your bed, under your sofa.

Reclaim some of that unused space under your sofa, bed, dresser- wherever! I use a basket under our sofa to wrangle up our phone, laptop, and camera chargers so that we have easy access to all of them!

Remember: Your home should work for YOU! It’s easier to rearrange something in your home so that it works for you versus trying to change your habits.
