How Big Should Your Nightstand Be? (simple tips to pick the right size nightstand)

Trying to pick the right size nightstand can feel a little tricky sometimes.

Obviously we have the “standard size” twin, full, queen, & king size mattresses… BUT… the thickness of those mattresses can vary greatly (generally between 8”-15”+). Not to mention all of the different sizes/styles of bedframes available. Because of these two things, you can’t just go to Google, search “right size nightstand for king size bed” and expect to find a concrete answer.

This is what you need to do instead:
TO FIND THE RIGHT HEIGHT
1.) get a tape measure
2.) go to your room
3.) measure the distance from the floor to the top of your mattress
4.) subtract 2 from that number AND add to the original number.

Finding the right width is a little more standard, but very important to get right. Choosing a table that’s not in scale with your bed will throw your whole room off! Below are the most commonly suggested width ranges for the different mattress sizes:
TWIN: 18”-22” wide
QUEEN: 23”-27” wide
KING: 24”-40” wide

Other variables, like the size of your room, will play a factor in determining size… but these basic measurements should give you a good place to start!
