One Room Challenge reveal day is here!! The past six weeks have FLOWN by and I’m SO excited about how this makeover turned out! Before I get into the photos, I want to thank Linda Weinstein (creator + owner of the One Room Challenge) as well as Better Homes & Gardens (official media partner of the event). This was my second time participating and both times have been a blast!! If you’ve been considering participating, I 110% recommend just going for it!

I cannot even put into words how happy I am with our new dining room!! Everything about it just feels so “me”. I love walking into our home and getting a glimpse into it from the living room… the living room and dining room flow so well together now!'

Let’s start with some before & afters:

The furniture we have now fills the space so much better. I love how the console table still offers storage, but the open base keeps it from feeling too heavy. And while I’m talking about it- HOW GORGEOUS IS THIS CONSOLE TABLE?! It’s so unique + modern, yet a little rustic at the same time. The wood is incredibly beautiful in person! It was sent to me courtesy of the amazing people at Scout Design Studio - an awesome shop located in Dallas!

That fun little black + white art pictured above is also from Scout Design Studio — they seriously have the coolest stuff!

Here’s another before + after:

One of the main things that always bothered me before was the light. It was a little farmhouse for my style, and I also didn’t think it made a big enough statement. Our new chandelier from Mitzi is absolutely perfect though!! I love the size and how it’s a different twist on the classic Sputnik style light.

Also - that awesome table lamp is from Troy Lighting… it is seriously the coolest lamp I’ve ever seen!! It has a one of a kind vintage vibe going on and I’m obsessed!

My goal was to always create an eclectic style room that combines my favorite interior styles: modern, beachy/boho, organic, + global. I have a tendency to accidentally go all in on one particular style - and then it ends up not feeling like “me”. So when this room started leaning towards too modern with the chandelier and the table, I knew I needed another element to add in. Then I saw these chairs from Noir and I knew they’d be perfect! The pictures don’t do them justice- the teak frame and rush seat/back are incredible in person! They were exactly what this room needed.

I created those little mudcloth wall tiles out of remnants I bought on Etsy and some wood squares from Michaels. The cool thing is that I attached them to the wall using command velcro strips, so I can switch them around if I want and not worry about messing up the wall!

Also in this shot is the DIY wall bar cabinet. OY VEY. It is not at all how I originally planned- I had wanted to do wood paneling on it but that didn’t work out. Then I came up with what I thought was going to be an even better plan B option! I ordered “grasscloth” peel and stick wallpaper from Amazon. WELLLL that came in yesterday and ended up not being grasscloth at all - it was basically contact paper with a picture of grasscloth printed on it {INSERT FACE PALM EMOJI}! I kind of had no other option but to just go with it though! So I wrapped up my cabinet in contact paper and here we are! I’m definitely going to put real grasscloth on it at some point though.

My original plan included a brown table. I am SO happy I ended up choosing this one with a white top though (from Apt2B)! I also love the oval shape - it’s a little unexpected!

Here are a few shots that show how the dining room and living room work together:

I am SO in love with our new dining room- the view walking into our home automatically puts a smile on my face now! I love how the living and dining rooms finally feel cohesive. There are definitely still a couple of things that I need to work on- but that’s just how it is when you design a space in 6 weeks!

I am so, SO grateful to the amazing companies who provided me with the products that helped bring my design to life!! Thank you all so much!
