Picking the right coffee table can feel pretty overwhelming… especially with all of the options out there. Keep reading to learn what size & shape will work best with your sofa type… PLUS I linked 18 coffee tables I’m currently crushing on!

A general rule of thumb is that your coffee table should be between 1/2 to 2/3 the length of your sofa. This will ensure that the proportions are correct. When you don’t get the scale/proportion correct, something will always feel “off” in your space.
The best shape will depend on the type of sofa you have. For L-shaped sofas and sofas with a chaise, I’m a sucker for round tables! Round tables also work well for loveseats. See my chart below for more shape + sofa type pairings!
