Modern + Affordable Wall Sconces

I mentioned in my last post that I’d like to incorporate some plug-in wall sconces into my parent’s living room makeover. Their living room doesn’t have overhead lighting so I need to make sure I think of ways to incorporate lamps into the design. I LOVE plug in wall sconces! It’s way to bring light into a room without taking up any floor space. They’re also an interesting design element! I’ve come across some really awesome AND affordable wall sconces while researching for my parents, so I thought I’d share some of those sources here!

SAVE TIME & MONEY: 7 Home Products that Made My Life Easier!

I’m excited to share a few products I’ve been using lately that have made my life a little easier! Working full time, having a toddler, and trying to blog/ keep up with Instagram all mean very little time to get stuff done. So when I find a product that truly works or one that consolidates steps to get something done, I’m 100% on board with it!

1.) 3M PATCH PLUS PRIMER: I love this tool!! It is for filling in nail holes and has a putty knife on one end and a patch of sand paper on the cap! It makes filling in annoying holes SO much easier. I especially love that you don’t have to go looking for sand paper, a putty knife, AND the spackle- everything is combined in one easy to use tool!

2.) DREAMBABY CABINET LATCHES: I 100% recommend these to anyone with a baby/toddler!! We’ve tried other cabinet locks in the past that worked but they were big and bulky and such a pain for us to open when we needed to. These are pretty much as sleek as cabinet locks come, but even better than that is the fact that it is SO easy for adults to open and when they’re unlocked, the lock doesn’t get in your way at all! We have them on our kitchen cabinets and drawers! They also come in two sizes.

3.) FULL CIRCLE HOME BUBBLE UP BRUSH: I’ve been using this for a while now and this dish brush is the real deal! Amazing quality- it’s held up so well! The fact that it actually looks pretty sitting on our counter is definitely a bonus!

4.) DISHWASHER SAFE BAMBOO CUTTING BOARD: I first saw these at HomeGoods and my mind was blown! I’m the person that always puts her bamboo cutting boards in the dishwasher until they eventually crack and break and I have to buy new ones (because plastic cutting boards just aren’t cute enough)! But a bamboo cutting board that is made to withstand the dishwasher?! YES PLEASE.

5.) FUZZ REMOVER: This tool is marketed to remove the pilling on your sweaters, but I got it because our sofa from West Elm started pilling and made it look SO old! This little thing did an amazing job of removing it from the fabric and made our sofa look brand new again! I will say that you do have to go over the same area a couple times, but I think it’s worth it!

6.) ZEP CARPET CLEANER: This stuff works miracles!! Our son had reflux as a baby and was constantly spitting up on our white carpet. I tried about 3 or 4 different carpet cleaners but this one was the only one that actually worked! It has even removed blackberries that he has spit out onto our carpet, black paint that I spilled, literally everything! I’ve even used it on our sofa before and it removed the stain perfectly!

7.) DYSON CORDLESS VACUUM: This one is pretty pricey but definitely worth it, in my opinion. Since getting it, we vacuum at least 4 times a week if not more. The ease of being able to quickly vacuum every room downstairs without having to unplug and plug/ deal with an annoying cord is something that you just can’t put a price on!! It comes in different models, with I think different battery strengths. If you have a bigger home then you might want to look into one with a battery that lasts longer. But this model is perfect for our 1800 sqft home. I’m able to vacuum our entire first floor and our stairs before it needs to be plugged back in.

So those are the products that I’ve been loving lately! Let me know if you have any must have home products I should try!!

Modern Baby Products to Add to Your Registry

Last October I wrote a post called Baby Products That Aren't Ugly, and it is still my most clicked on post!  That clearly means that there are a ton of other people out there searching for baby products that blend in a little better with their decor.  It makes sense too-- when your baby is an infant, they don't care what color any of their gear is!  In fact, I've read that infants actually prefer the high contrast of black and white!  So if your baby doesn't care, and you have to look at these products all day- then why shouldn't they be designed to suit your taste?  So I pulled together another list of modern baby gear that won't take away from the design of your home!

1. Baby Bloom Coco Lounger

I love the natural wood and clean lines of this baby bouncer/lounger.  There are more color options for both the seat and the base.  This is definitely a piece that would fit into any decor!

2. Wooden Activity Gym

This wooden play gym from Pottery Barn Kids is so cute! All you need to do is lay down a blanket and you're set!

3. Bloom Baby Nano High Chair

This high chair folds completely flat for easy storage. It can also be used as a chair at the table when your child is a bit older!

4. Activity Seat

I think my son would have loved this activity seat from Crate & Barrel. Plus it's all cushioned, so there's no place for baby to hurt them self!

5. Modern Baby Blanket

LOVE this baby blanket from PB Kids/West Elm! It looks super soft for baby, but with a modern design that would look great draped over any sofa!

6. Cute Swaddles

I personally never used swaddles as actual swaddles. But I used them everyday to lay out for tummy time, or to protect the couch from spit up. Most of your pictures will probably have a swaddle in the background -- so make sure they're cute! ;)

7. Baby Bjorn Modern Bassinet

I know all babies are different, but I think it's pretty common for babies to sleep in a rock & play or bassinet for the first couple months. The modern look of this one instantly caught my eye!

8. Skip Hop Changing Pad

I know I had another wipe clean changing pad in my last post but that's because I really think they're genius! We ended up NEVER using the changing pad cover on ours, it was such a waste! Might as well skip that step and get one that's not meant to have a cover!

9. Stroller Gloves

This is not really a "modern baby gear" product, but more of a recommendation. These stroller gloves stay attached to the handle of your stroller so you can easily slide your hands in and out! These would be especially useful if you live in a city where you do a lot of walking.

So there are my top modern baby products that I would definitely have on my registry if I were to go back in time!  I do want to mention that for high chairs, make sure you look into one that has straps that can easily be removed.  You will definitely be washing those bad boys quite often once your baby starts eating solids!!

My New Favorite Accessory (5 Reasons You Need a JORD Wooden Watch)

Obviously this is not my typical interior décor or styling post, but I am SO excited to share my new favorite watch with you all!!  It’s a wooden watch (yes, WOOD) from JORD.  If you follow any bloggers on Instagram, chances are you’ve seen these watches.  I’ve seen them on all my favorite accounts and have always loved their unique style!  I was pretty pumped when the kind people over at JORD decided to welcome me on board their team and participate in this summer campaign!

I chose the Cassia style in Zebra & Ivory – and this watch coordinates with literally EVERY outfit!  Before I go on and list my reasons why you need a JORD watch, I want to point out that they also offers men’s watches – which are equally as cool!  Luke actually wanted me to pick a watch for him for this campaign, but I informed him that (A.) I want it, so NO :-) and (B.) that would require him modeling for me and he HATES having his photo taken more than he hates when I come home from Target with 17 new throw pillows… sooo maybe I’ll just get him one for his birthday instead!

1.)    Unique.  When is the last time you saw someone wearing a wooden watch??  They manage to have a unique look to them while still remaining totally classic.
2.)    Versatile.  You can wear these watches with jeans and flip flops OR a fancy dress and heels!  The wood band is also neutral enough to coordinate with pretty much any color!
3.)    Comfortable.  There’s nothing worse than wanting to wear a watch every day only to have to take it off once you sit down in front of your computer because it’s SO uncomfortable to type with.  This watch is so lightweight and comfortable; I seriously forget I’m wearing it!
4.)    On Trend.  Fashion and home décor can definitely go hand in hand!  Fringe, tassels, and pom poms are a few that come to mind when thinking of décor trends that found their way onto clothing and accessories!  Natural elements and textures are trending big time right now in home décor, so it’s only a matter of time before other watch designers jump on this trend!
5.)    You Can Engrave It.  I already mentioned that I would love to gift one of the men’s watches to my husband, but JORD also offers an engraving service!  How perfect would this be for pretty much anyone in your life??  You can have something lovey-dovey engraved, or maybe an inside joke?! (LAC I LOVE YOU MER!) ;-)  The options are endless!

Did I convince you that you NEED one of these amazing watches?! GREAT – because JORD is offering my readers a chance at winning $100 to use on their site!!  While only one lucky reader will win the $100 gift code, everyone will receive a code worth 10% off just for entering!  This contest only runs through 7/22, so make sure you get your entry in soon!

13 HOME DECOR FINDS UNDER $50 | Urban Outfitters

I love finding awesome, unique home decor -- and even more so when it's budget friendly!!  I've rounded up some fun home accessories that I found at Urban Outfitters below.  The links to everything are below the picture.  (P.S. if you've never had to search for a cute + affordable toilet paper holder before, then you might think that one is random-- but trust me, they aren't that easy to find!!)

Target's new line, Opalhouse, officially goes on sale this Sunday!  The good news is that there are SO many awesome products in this line!!  The bad news is that I'm going to have to avoid Target until I learn some self control... I could barely narrow down my favorite things for this post!

I separated them into four of my favorite categories -- but they also sell outdoor items, bedding, and bath!  So definitely check out everything for yourself here!!  The links to all the products are located under each collage.

*Please note that this post contains affiliate links.

There you have it -- some of my favorite items from Opalhouse!  The prices are all very affordable, with the most expensive item on my list being $200.  The average price of everything I put here is around $50-- with most things being $15 - $30.  I'm excited to host some outdoor summer dinners using their fun plastic dinnerware!

Don't forget -- THIS Sunday 4/8 is when everything will be available to purchase!

Mark the date - April 8th.  This is when Target's new home collection, Opalhouse, will be available online and in stores!!  This time, Target's design team traveled around the world to find inspiration in order to create unique and authentic feeling pieces.  The line of around 1,300 pieces has an eclectic/ global feel to it.  The products span across bedding, bath, furniture, decorative accessories, and tabletop; with most pieces costing under $30.
Looking at the photos, it seems like Opalhouse will be full of great texture, some rich colors, as well as beautiful neutrals.  I can't wait to get my hands on some of those throw pillows!!  And I definitely spotted that amazing wicker elephant planter in the bedroom photo!! HEART EYES EMOJI! <3  SO here's to hoping everything doesn't sell out right away and that we're all able to get the pieces we love!

I see you, elephant!!

I probably spend about 85% of my time thinking about area rugs... is that weird?? I love looking to see what's new and trending. Area rugs can make all the difference in a room -- take Nathan's nursery for example, the number one comment people make is about the rug!
I pulled 30 of my current favorite rugs and categorized them - some by colors and some by style. These are at all different price points and from a few of my favorite sources! Enjoy!

IKEA has always been a go to for me for decorative accessories like vases and pillows... and lately I've been loving looking at their larger furniture too!  I put together the collage below of some of the things I've been loving lately - some is new and some have been around for a while - but all of it is amazing!  Every product is linked under the collage.

Ceiling fans.  It doesn’t sound like an interesting topic to post about, but I swear it is!  I would much rather put a beautiful statement light than a ceiling fan into a room any day, but sometimes fans are just a necessary evil – especially in multiple story homes during the summer!!  I had never put too much thought into ceiling fans until I started working on the design for our master bedroom.  I knew I wanted to replace the fan we currently have and I was so surprised at all of the options that out there!  There are ceiling fans for every interior design style-- I love that you can make them look like an intentional part of your room design now.  So whether you want to coordinate your fan to your décor or you want a sleek one that doesn’t call too much attention, there are plenty of options that should fit the bill.
