2019 Interior Decor Trends - Kitchens

In the past I’ve created posts in the beginning of a new year to predict what I think the new trends will be throughout the year. I didn’t do that this year so I wanted to do a series of posts talking about the different changes in interior decor that I’ve been noticing so far this year. I’m starting with kitchens because I love all the new cabinetry, flooring, and back splash options I’ve been seeing!

LESS WHITE / MORE TEXTURE

I’ve definitely noticed a shift from all white kitchens to kitchens with warmer tones. Kitchens are still bright, but people have been adding in more beige tones and natural textures. Rustic wood and natural stone are a couple ways I’ve seen people add warmth and a cozier vibe to kitchens.

APPLIANCES THAT AREN’T STAINLESS STEEL

I don’t think stainless steel appliances will ever go “out of style” but over the last couple years I’ve noticed a rise in the number of kitchens that have white or black appliances - or even other colors! Appliance brands have been creating beautiful appliances that aren’t stainless steel, and I love it! I would love to have a beautiful set of matte white kitchen appliances some day! I also wanted to note that I’ve seen several beautiful designs that have a mix of white + stainless or black + stainless - so you definitely don’t have to purchase a full set!

WOOD CABINETS VS PAINTED CABINETS

Over the last 6 months to a year, I’ve seen so many kitchens that feature wood tone cabinets instead of bright white cabinets that have been dominating for several years now! I think the key to this look is to make sure the wood tone isn’t too orangey or red… and pair them with sleek/modern hardware.

Those are the main “trends” I’ve been noticing lately. If you have an all white kitchen (like myself) and are wanting to add more warmth to it- switching up your accessories is a great and easy way to do this! I’ve put together different decorative and functional kitchenware you can add to help get these looks!
