INTERIOR DESIGN STYLES | FARMHOUSE

I’m starting a new little mini-series on here that explains and breaks down different interior design styles.  Each week I’ll focus on a different style and provide inspiration pictures + shopping lists!  Since Hearth & Hand launched today at Target, I’m starting off with Farmhouse style!

This style is definitely more popular than ever thanks to shows like Fixer Upper.  It’s all about creating a cozy vibe, mixing traditional furniture with vintage accessories.  This design uses antiques in a way that is still warm and inviting – farmhouse style never has a museum feel to it.  Use different textures and comfortable furniture to achieve this.  Farmhouse interiors done right are also never too “theme-y” – you want to keep it simple and sophisticated.  Some common elements you might find in these interiors include: reclaimed wood, shiplap, wrought iron, galvanized metal, vintage accessories, slipcovered furniture, and lantern style lighting.

See below for a list of items you can get to achieve this look + some farmhouse inspired looks from HGTV’s Fixer Upper.  Check back next Sunday to read my post on Coastal Interiors!
